ADHD is not the only condition that makes it hard to focus. Anxiety, sleep problems, learning disorders, depression, and thyroid issues can all produce the same complaint. A careful interview is what separates a real diagnosis from a guess. Ruling things out matters as much as ruling things in.

Attention testing measures how you perform under ordinary conditions, and an unfamiliar office at eight in the morning is not ordinary conditions for most people. For a lot of families, home is the better testing environment, not a compromise.

Free 15-Minute Consultation

We talk about what is going on, what you are hoping to find out, and whether a full evaluation is the right next step. If it is not, I will tell you that. You are also welcome to ask what the report will and will not do for your specific situation.

Before Your Appointment

I send secure links to your rating scales and intake paperwork, which you complete online at your own pace. Observer forms go directly to your rater by email, so a teacher form arrives in an inbox instead of going home in a backpack. Upload any records you have: report cards, prior testing, IEP or 504 documents, provider notes.

Evaluation Day

We start with the clinical interview. For children and teens, I interview parents in depth and speak with the child directly at a level that fits their age. For adults, we cover your own history from early childhood forward, since the diagnostic criteria require it. Then you complete the Conners CPT, either at the Santa Ana office or on your own machine while we stay connected. We take the time the evaluation needs. The fee does not change if it runs long.

I score and interpret everything, then deliver the written report electronically. We review the findings together on a follow-up call so you understand what the scores mean and what to do with them. No waiting weeks to hear back, and no one-page letter.

Documentation the right people will accept

You receive a complete written evaluation documenting the referral question, the measures administered, your scores with normative comparisons, diagnostic findings under current DSM criteria, and specific recommendations. It is written to be usable by the people who will read it.

A word of honesty about what a report can and cannot do. Thorough testing gives you strong, well-supported documentation. It does not obligate a school or employer to grant a specific accommodation, and no ethical provider can promise you a particular diagnosis before the evaluation is complete. What I can promise is real testing and a report that holds up.

What a psychologist brings to ADHD testing

Psychological and diagnostic evaluation sits squarely inside a psychologist's scope of practice. That means years of supervised training in test administration, normative interpretation, and differential diagnosis, which is the part that matters most here. Attention problems have a long list of possible causes, and telling them apart is the whole job.

It also means the person reviewing your documentation, whether that is a university disability office, a testing board, or a prescriber, sees a credential they recognize. I conduct and sign every evaluation myself. Nothing is handed off to a technician.

No six-month waitlist

Assessment appointments in Southern California routinely book out half a year, and many practices only test children. Adults, teens, and kids are all seen here, usually within weeks rather than seasons.

Is remote testing as good as in-office?

For ADHD assessment, yes. The measures are the same, the norms are the same, and the interpretation is the same. Children often test better in a familiar room than in a strange building, and parents skip the drive and the missed school day. Choose whichever setting fits your family.

Before you book

Is $1,250 really the whole cost?

Yes. It covers the intake paperwork, the rating scales, the clinical interview, the Conners CPT, the records review, all scoring and interpretation, the written report, and the call where we go through the findings together. There is no hourly billing, no per-test charge, and no separate fee for the report. If the evaluation takes longer than expected, the price does not move.

Do you test adults, or only children?

Both. Children, teens, and adults all go through the same rigorous process, adapted to age. For adults, we cover your history from early childhood forward, since the diagnostic criteria require evidence that symptoms were present early.

Will my child's Orange County school accept this report?

The report is written to support 504 plan and IEP consideration, and it documents everything a district team needs: measures administered, scores with normative comparisons, diagnostic findings, and specific recommendations. Districts make their own eligibility determinations, so no provider can guarantee a particular outcome, but thorough testing gives you the strongest documentation available.

Can you prescribe medication?

No. Psychologists in California do not prescribe. What the evaluation gives you is the documented testing that prescribing physicians and psychiatric providers frequently require before they will consider starting treatment, along with a clear picture of what is driving the symptoms.

What if the testing shows I do not have ADHD?

That happens, and it is a useful result rather than a wasted one. Anxiety, sleep problems, learning disorders, depression, and several medical conditions produce attention complaints that look a great deal like ADHD. Knowing which one you are dealing with is what makes the next step work.

Do I need to bring anything?
