Parent & Family Support

Your child told you something about their gender, and now you're somewhere between fear, love, and a search bar at midnight. Or maybe it's bigger than just you — parents, siblings, partners, and extended family all trying to process the same news, especially when a family or faith community is struggling, or you expect them to. Either way, you don't have to sort it out alone.

Who This Is For

  • Parents who want guidance from someone with no agenda for their kid
  • Parents who want a careful, unhurried understanding of what their child is experiencing before deciding what to do next
  • Parents navigating disagreement with a co-parent, extended family, or their faith community about how to respond
  • Parents of a child who has already socially or medically transitioned, working through their own ongoing process
  • Families wanting to understand and support a transgender, non-binary, or intersex family member together
  • Families navigating the intersection of gender identity with faith, culture, or extended family expectations
  • Families supporting a loved one through detransition or a change in direction

Parent Coaching

This is space for one parent — not a version of your child's therapy where you sit in on the side. We work on understanding what your child may be experiencing, separating your fears from the actual evidence in front of you, communicating with your child in a way that keeps the relationship open, and making decisions about school, extended family, and medical questions as they come up. If your child is also in therapy, either with me or with someone else, I'll coordinate with them as appropriate and with your consent.

Family Sessions

When more than one family member is involved, sessions are shaped around what your family actually needs — building shared understanding of what your family member is experiencing, working through disagreement without it fracturing the relationship, and finding language and boundaries that let everyone stay connected even where you don't fully agree. The goal isn't for everyone to arrive at the same conclusion. It's for the family to stay a family through the process.

What You Can Expect

  • No agenda for any one family member's outcome — my job is to help you support each other well, not to steer anyone
  • A place to say the complicated, unfiltered thoughts that are hard to say anywhere else
  • Practical guidance grounded in developmental and diagnostic training, not just reassurance
  • Full confidentiality within the limits of the law, explained clearly up front
  • Coordination with any family members already in individual therapy, with their consent

How It Works

We start with a free 15-minute consultation to talk through what's going on and who should be part of the sessions. Sessions run over a secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform, available to clients in 45+ states through my PSYPACT license.

Rates

Individual parent coaching is billed at my standard individual rate of $215 per session. Sessions with the whole family present are $225. Full details on payment and insurance are on Rates & Insurance.
