Parent & Family Support
Your child told you something about their gender, and now you're somewhere between fear, love, and a search bar at midnight. Or maybe it's bigger than just you: parents, siblings, partners, and extended family all trying to process the same news, especially when a family or faith community is struggling, or you expect them to. Either way, you don't have to sort it out alone.
Who You'll Work With

Why parents and families reach out about gender
- You want guidance from someone with no agenda for your kid.
- You want a careful, unhurried understanding of what your child is experiencing before deciding what to do next.
- You and a co-parent, extended family, or your faith community disagree about how to respond.
- Your child has already socially or medically transitioned, and you're working through your own ongoing process.
- Your family wants to understand and support a transgender, non-binary, or intersex family member together.
- You're trying to work out how gender identity fits with faith, culture, or extended family expectations.
- You're supporting a loved one through detransition or a change in direction.
Parent coaching or family sessions
Parent Coaching
This is space for one parent, on its own, separate from any therapy your child is doing. We work on understanding what your child may be experiencing, separating your fears from the actual evidence in front of you, communicating with your child in a way that keeps the relationship open, and making decisions about school, extended family, and medical questions as they come up. If your child is also in therapy, either with me or with someone else, I'll coordinate with them as appropriate and with your consent.
Family Sessions
When more than one family member is involved, sessions are shaped around what your family needs: building shared understanding of what your family member is experiencing, working through disagreement without it fracturing the relationship, and finding language and boundaries that let everyone stay connected even where you don't fully agree. The goal isn't for everyone to arrive at the same conclusion. It's for the family to stay a family through the process.
I have no agenda for your child's outcome
- No agenda for any one family member's outcome. My job is to help you support each other well.
- A place to say the complicated, unfiltered thoughts that are hard to say anywhere else.
- Practical guidance grounded in developmental and diagnostic training, for when reassurance alone isn't enough.
- Full confidentiality within the limits of the law, explained clearly up front.
- Coordination with any family members already in individual therapy, with their consent.

Questions parents ask first
Will you tell me what to do about my child's gender identity?
No. There's no agenda for any one family member's outcome. My job is to help you support each other well, with practical guidance grounded in developmental and diagnostic training. I won't steer anyone toward a particular decision.
Can I do this if my co-parent or family disagrees with me?
Yes. Disagreement with a co-parent, extended family, or a faith community is one of the most common reasons parents reach out, and sessions can work through it directly.
What's the difference between parent coaching and family sessions?
Parent coaching is for one parent alone, separate from your child's therapy. Family sessions bring in multiple family members and are shaped around what the whole family needs together.
Will you coordinate with my child's own therapist?
Yes, with appropriate consent. If your child is already in therapy, either with me or with someone else, coordination happens as appropriate and with their consent.
